Cross-country skiing, biathlon & ski jumping
Ramsau at the foot of the Dachstein Massif is a major centre for Nordic sports and home to a stadium which has hosted the Nordic World Championships. For years the village has been used as a training base by top national and international teams in biathlon, ski jumping and cross-country skiing.
The world championship stadium is the starting point for 13 cross-country skiing trails. All in all there are 130 km of trails for the traditional classic technique and 70 km for the more modern and dynamic skating technique in and around Ramsau. The network of cross-country skiing trails caters for skiers of all abilities, from beginners to experts. Seven snow-making machines ensure excellent snow conditions throughout the season.
Use this unique chance to try your hand at cross-country skiing on the trails where the Nordic World Championships took place in 1999. The world championship stadium in Ramsau features:

When the sun goes down in Ramsau, there is no need to pack up your skis and head home. The village has its own floodlit cross-country skiing trail open daily until 21:00.
Ski Jumping

For all those who dream of flying, Ramsau's ski jump hill is the ideal place to turn . this fantasy into reality. It forms part of the stadium which welcomed the Nordic World Championships in 1999 and today continues to host FIS World Cup, Nordic Combined events as well as regional competitions on a regular basis. The ski jump is also used by top national and international athletes for training purposes.
Special courses are offered for beginners. Step by step they are introduced to the most important aspects of ski jumping, including the all-important equipment and technique. Once the theory has been learned, it is time to head to the ski jump hill itself to put it into practice. Experienced trainers are on hand throughout to make sure participants stay safe and have fun.
