The Dachstein is famous not only for its excellent cross-country skiing but also as a centre for winter hiking.
The hiking trails, which are 4 m wide, are regularly maintained using skidoos to flatten the snow. Most of them are in sunny, wind-protected areas up to 1700 m above sea level. Sensational panoramic views of the Dachstein plateau and its many pretty huts make for an unforgettable winter experience.
